Our "Very Bright Story"
Robyn Elliott has been my friend since we were both little girls! After graduating from high school we went separate ways only to reconnect through Facebook as we approached our 40th birthday celebrations. After two spirited birthday celebrations we decided to have dinner to catch up. Over dinner, we reflected on our individual paths with laughter and tears as we talked about our families, friends and careers. Through our conversation we both felt a strong sense that we reconnected for a greater purpose.
When I revealed the pain and struggle my daughter Ashlé has been experiencing with Sickle Cell, Robyn began to recall her recurring dreams about helping hurting people all over the world. As I continued to explain our journey with Sickle Cell, Robyn's heart opened wide with deep compassion and concern for my child and all people living with Sickle Cell. Then I revealed to Robyn my dream to make a difference and suddenly our dreams began to come alive. Robyn said, "we’ve got to do something!"
When prayerfully considering a name for the foundation I discovered the Germanic origin and meaning of Robyn's name is: "Bright fame." So I called Robyn right away and said, "God wants us to shine a VERY BRIGHT™ light on this plight!" Robyn's immediate response was, "Let's do it then!" Since that phone call Robyn has worked tirelessly behind the scenes supporting, praying and helping me design our beautiful Very Bright™ brand.
We truly believe, together we can Break Sickle Silence®!
